In 2016, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju told Parliament that there were about 2 billion Bangladeshis living illegally in India. However, many people think that the real number could be higher, possibly even more than 3 billion. To put this number in perspective, the number of illegal Bangladeshis is between 1.5 and 2 times the number of people who vote in New Delhi. Rohingyas from Myanmar have also come to India illegally. The UN estimates that there are about 40,000 Rohingyas in the country. Compared to national rates, the rate at which their population is said to be growing is very high.

Most of these newcomers are Muslims, which changes India's population balance and has an effect on a country that was split into two Islamic countries. The Nuh-Mewat religious riots, which happened recently and were very sad, give the Narendra Modi government a unique chance to deal with this problem and possibly change the trend.

As the Haryana Police looked into the bloodshed, they found whole communities of illegal immigrants, some of whom were Rohingyas. These payments were paid off, which showed how big the problem was. The event gives the party in power, the BJP, a chance to do something about illegal immigration and changes in the population.

To take advantage of this chance, the BJP could use what they learned from the Nuh riots and the 2020 Delhi riots to start a campaign to find, arrest, and remove Bangladeshis and Rohingyas in the National Capital Region (NCR). This area covers Delhi and the areas around it. If the BJP ran the local police and intelligence agencies, it would be easier to work together. With elections coming up in Bangladesh, backing Sheikh Hasina's return to power could lead to a large number of illegal foreigners going back home. Action against illegal immigrants that works could earn the BJP the support of both Hindus and people from other groups who are worried that illegal immigrants are taking jobs and other ways to make a living.

A well-run campaign against illegal immigration could be a major problem in the 2024 election. This would improve national security and help India's poorest people. It could also be the start of a National Register of Citizens (NRC) for the whole country if Narendra Modi's government stays in power. With this plan, illegal immigrants and misusing the country's resources would be less likely to happen. In the end, bad things are happening, but India has a chance to deal with illegal immigrants and protect its national interests. This will help its people and make the future safer.
